the shadow on the moon is not caused by the shadow of the earth though. damn, almost a great quote.

@cheesebread4 (Cheese brain) What do you think the shadow is then? The earth is between the sun and the moon. Thus a shadow. :S

Wow. I've signed up to this website to tell both of you that you are cheese brains.
He meant that judging by the spherical shape the moon projects in its phases, the earth must not be different.
The shadow is because the sun is, in the above case, projecting from the right and therefore cannot light the left side of the moon.
Jomc83 - When the earth is between the sun and the moon, that is a lunar eclipse.
