Jean-Pierre Alaux was born in 1925 at La Ciotat, France. He did not have to fight to become a painter, like many of his peers. He is a direct descendant from a family of painters or architects dating back to the beginning of the 18th century. Consequently, he found it hard to be taken seriously although he was extremely serious about his work.

Jean-Pierre Alaux has been creating art for more than fifty years without following any particular fashion and has always remained true to his own style: art lovers have never had any doubts that he is one of the great artists of our time. For his part, he modestly hopes that the diversity he brings to each of his works adds to the audience’s visual and spiritual satisfaction by removing boredom, the source of many evils.
